Trying So Hard

Over the past several days, LE has been doing a lot of this:

And this:

She's not really proficient at either, but she's getting better.  LE doesn't have the whole balance thing down yet, so she has a tendency to topple over rather than sit really well.  As for being on all fours, she rocks back and forth a little, gets frustrated with the fact that she isn't moving, and then flattens herself back out.  I have no doubt that she will be crawling any minute now!

LE still loves her bath time.  She plays in the water and it is almost impossible to get her to lay back now.  When she does lay back, she kicks her feet with such force that anyone around her gets splashed.  The other night at the end of her bath, I looked like the one who had been bathed!

Looking like a kewpie doll
Bath time is so much fun!
Her personality is showing more and more now.  She loves playing in the ExcerSaucer.  When she's on her mat, LE reaches for her toys and rolls over to get to things she wants.  She is growing so quickly!

Now What?

Saturday, LE was playing on the floor.  I looked over at one point and this is what I saw:

She was up on all fours and sat there looking at me for the longest time with this look on her face as if to say, "Ok, now what do I do?"  After sitting there for a few minutes, she flattened herself back out and continued playing on her mat.  I have no doubt that she will be moving and grooving all over the place before long!

Six Months

WOW!  These six months have FLOWN by!  LE's personality is really beginning to show and she's doing all sorts of new things.  She has eaten sweet potatoes, bananas, and peas (she's NOT a fan) in addition to the applesauce and pears I introduced her to this summer.  She's beginning to sit up a little, but it's usually in more of a "tripod" position, leaning forward to grab things in front of her.  She reaches out to grab things, particularly noses on people's faces and turns to see what's going on when she hears people talking.  She is very curious and always wants to be in the middle of things.  LE is rolling over all the time now--front to back and back to front--and pushing herself around on her mat to get to things she wants.  She has also been pulling her knees up under her, particularly when she's sleeping, and I'm sure it won't be too long before she's crawling all over the place.

She weighs 16.15 pounds and is 27 inches long, as per her six month check up, which was Friday.  She is progressing well and we continue to enjoy watching her grow.

What's this thing?
Ready for my photo shoot!

Morning people

We love you, LE!  You are getting to be such a big girl!

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day found LE and me at the beach with Bamma, Big Pat, Carter, Callen, Uncle Steve, and Aunt Emily, while Aunt Sue and Uncle Nick went to Dallas for the UA game and Ken stayed at home to work.

Our long weekend (Friday through Tuesday) consisted of a great deal of swimming, playing, napping, and family time.  LE enjoyed spending time with everyone, but particularly Carter and Callen.  She was simply enthralled with all the "busy-ness" that went on when they were around.

Entertaining LE in the ExcerSaucer
LE loves her Exersaucer.  She pulls on all the pieces and just squeals.  We took to moving it outside by the pool so that she could play and watch the "big kids" at the same time.

So fun!

Love from Carter

Enjoying time out side and her hat

LE also learned to screw up her face and breathe, quickly, through her nose.  This made for some extremely funny faces.

You want WHAT????
Callen fell in love with Aunt Em's hat and tried her best to wear it like Aunt Em.  She was a hoot!
Too cute!

We had just a great time during the weekend that we hated to leave!  But we're looking forward to going back when Ken can join us, which will hopefully be soon.
