The Happy Couple

Last weekend, Ken and I attended an engagement dinner for these two:

Steve and Emily

The dinner was hosted by great friends of our family--the Brocks, the Chaucers, Miss Beth, the Genetskis, and the Rusks--at the Chaucer's house. The food was fantastic--chicken piccata, salad, twice baked potato casserole, banana pudding, and chocolate "stuff." I finally got to meet Emily's parents and Steve and Emily's friends couldn't have been nicer. We all had a GREAT time!

My main job was to take pictures during the event, which I was happy to do. Besides the picture above, one of my favorites was of The Hurricane Club, to which I have been given the status of "the junior member" and the official "Bar B*tch" (or B.B., as Tish refers to me)!

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and I want to say a HUGE thank you to the hosts. We are all looking forward to celebrating August 28!

Happy Easter!

This morning, we had brunch with the Willis clan and my mom and dad at my parents' house. There was A LOT going on! Before the Willis family arrived, we had an Easter "fashion show," of sorts.

When the Willis's arrived, things picked up. After greeting everyone, we all went outside to watch Carter find the eggs that the Easter Bunny had hidden.

Hunting for Easter eggs

However, the Easter egg hunt was not even a close second to Carter's favorite past time--GOLF! He quickly gave up the Easter basket for his golf bag.

Callen was very content to sit in the floor and dump all the eggs out of the basket

Callen loved the noise and the eggs scooting all over the place; Bamma and Big Pat got a kick out of it too!

Brunch was fantastic! My mom made a ham, asparagus, mushroom, egg and cheese casserole that was delicious and my sister made "sticky bums" (to quote Carter) which were a big hit. My contribution was a fruit salad and we followed all of that with a strawberry shortcake that my mom made. Everything tasted wonderful!

Ken and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the family. The only down side was that we were missing Steve and Miss E.M., but we hope that we can all get together again really soon!

Sunday Supper

My parents invited us to join them and the Willis family at Davenport's for pizza. Since Ken and I LOVE Davenport's we were happy to join them!

We got to visit with Sue, Nick, Carter and Callen and hear all about the chili cook-off for the Exceptional Foundation that they had attended Saturday while we were in Selma.

Then, Carter explained to us why he had a purple Bandaid on his finger.

Listening while Bamma asks him about his Bandaid

He told us that he "had got some golf on me." This, translated by Sue, meant that he had gotten a blister from gripping and swinging the golf club. I thought it was a pretty accurate account of things.

Miss Callen got lots of face time with her Bamma and me too. She was wide-eyed and watching everything around us, interacting with the staff and anyone else who happened past our table. Bamma and I passed her back and forth and, at one point, she became fascinated with my shirt/shoulder and proceeded to try to chew on it. That was fine with me because, as my mother put it, I owe EVERYONE! I was such a big drooler that I wore a bib until I was two.

Carter asking us all if we wanted a cracker
(The rest of us said, "No, thank you," so when Nick said, "Yes!" Carter politely pointed to the basket and told him he could get one out of there!)

We had a grand time with everyone and it is such a blessing to be able to get together with the family on such short notice now! I love having the Willis clan back in town! Welcome home, y'all!
